Frequently Asked Questions

Will the stone stain if I use it on my kitchen floor?

Stone is naturally a porous material, it needs to be treated when it is first laid. For this type of limestone we recommend the use of Lithofin Stain Stop. Once the tile has been sealed correctly with multiple applications of Stain Stop it will be completely sealed and can be maintained in the same way as a ceramic or porcelain floor.
This advice also applies if you want to use stone in a bathroom. Once treated, the stone provides a waterproof barrier.

So am I going to have to keep treating this stone?

We suggest using Lithofin because this product reduces the upkeep of your limestone. Once the stone has been treated it will not require any maintenance other than the usual cleaning that any other hard surface requires. It would however be prudent to reseal the stone every 4 to 5 years.

My kitchen floor is wooden floorboards, can I still fit this stone?

Yes, but your floor needs to reinforced to stop any localised movement which would cause the stone to fracture. Special adhesives and grouts are available that absorb vibration and allow us to fit on wooden substrates.
Exact details on reinforcement depends on the existing condition and structure of your floor - We'll quite happily provide advice and feel free to contact me should you need it.

Can I fit these myself?

We would strongly recommend you use a professional tiler that is equipped and experienced in laying stone.

Will the colour be consistent?

Natural stone is subject to colour and shade variations within each batch of tile. Even a block of stone cut form the same seam in a quarry can produce shade variations.

Can I have a sample tile please?

We can't send you a whole tile it would get rather expensive! We have however cut up tiles in to smaller pieces (15cm x 15cm x 1cm) and can post these out to you.
Each sample piece is a representation of the batch as a  whole, please understand that as this is a natural product there will be an element of shade variation in the batch as a whole.
W do ask that you pay £4 for each sample we post, this is refundable if you place an order with us. Sorry to have to charge for this, but it stops those people who have no intention of buying the stone from asking for freebies. We know genuine buyers don't mind paying a small fee for sample stones.

How long will it take to be delivered?

If we are holding the stone you have chosen in stock and once payment is received we will arrange for a haulier to deliver the stone that same week.
Please let us know if you have any special delivery requirements (do you live in a very narrow access Road etc). Please consider that 20sq/m of this stone weighs over 1000kg - it needs a large vehicle to deliver it.
If your order needs to be imported or machined by the manufacturer, delivery to us takes 3 to 4 weeks. We will then ship the order within 72 hours of it’s arrival once it has been thoroughly checked and packaged.

How do we pay you?

We accept payment by Cheque, bankers draught and postal order or we can accept credit cards.
Most people prefer to pay with credit card as this gives the added piece of mind of insurance and protection offered by the card provider.
We understand that you are investing a lot of money in our product and we need to make sure you are comfortable with the transaction.

When do we need to pay you?

All stone is to be paid for in full before shipping, We’re sorry we are not able to accept Cash or Cheque on delivery as we use outside hauliers and this is neither practical or secure.
